In Terry Michael’s first podcast as an official co-host he discusses the “Test and Treat” concept – a massive experiment with toxic drugs on blacks and gay men in Washington DC and elsewhere.
The idea is that everyone in defined risk groups should be tested for HIV. In Washington DC this means all black people as well as gay men. In San Francisco mainly gay men. In Vancouver, Canada, mainly IV drug users. Once the target is identified all who test positive will be given AIDS drugs right away – not to try to prevent disease, but to prevent transmission.
If there was scientific evidence that this would reduce the long-term risk of AIDS the morality of treating people with drugs with well-documented fatal side effects could be debated. But there is no scientific evidence for this concept. Could it be that it is a desperate “Hail Mary” pass to try to increase the number of people consuming drugs?
For more information also read Terry Michael’s article and watch the New York Magazine video, Another Kind of AIDS Crisis that notes that, “A striking number of HIV patients are experiencing symptoms usually identified with the elderly” (now what might be causing that?)
