Born in 1984, Nicole Zwiren and her classmates received their first “AIDS education” as first graders — six-year-olds. A cute kid just like them, Ryan White, told Oprah Winfrey he was going to die of AIDS, and other kids might die too if they didn’t watch out. So before Nicole could explain the dissident paradigm for beginners in her latest film, HIV: A Whole Different Story, she had to explain it to herself. Is it easier or harder to reverse the effects of a propaganda state if a person has lived inside it all her life?
We hope you’ll be compelled to support Nicole’s post-production costs through the Dana “mindful crowdfunding” community — by 11:59 p.m. on August 15, 2014. (Get cool t-shirts, tote bags and CDs/DVDs!)
After her first short documentary film on AIDS, Denialism: The Death of “AIDS,” Nicole decided to get back to basics. She explains how her film covers the “bone-pointing” psychological assault of being diagnosed (yet not diagnosed) with a terminal disease as much as the illogical, circular (non-)science of “AIDS.” Along the way, she discovered the fascinating history of the HEAL (Health Education AIDS Liaison) self-education movement by interviewing one of its leaders, Michael Ellner, and will include rare video clips.
“How Positive Are You” co-host Elizabeth Ely and Nicole discuss getting “HIV tests” done at the “Out of the Closet” thrift stores, even as evidence continues to pile up that there are many ways to get a “false-positive” result. Also mentioned are the classic study The Group-Fantasy Origins of AIDS; the books The AIDS Cult, The Power of Your Subconscious Mind and The Best Little Boy in the World; and one healer’s surprisingly effective advice to a San Francisco man with AIDS.
For our already-“rethinking” listeners, we share just how and why we changed our minds on an oversold hysteria. Join the discussion! Please tell us, at info@howpositiveareyou, how you became an AIDS dissident/rethinker, and we’ll share your comments on the air. Did you become one because of “How Positive Are You”? You can also contact Nicole directly at orlive1984@yahoo.com.
(We apologize for what sounds like heavy animal breathing and grunting, particularly around 34 minutes in. For the life of us, we can’t figure out what that is, because neither Beth nor Nicole has a dog. Beth taped this interview from a front porch in Michigan in July 2014.)
