Episode 10: AIDS Social Worker Experiences Paradigm Shift
November 27th, 2008

Sarah Breidenbach was a highly regarded social worker who specialized in assisting people diagnosed HIV positive or with AIDS. For Sarah, this position was far more than a job, it was an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of her clients, and she approached her work with great dedication and conviction. She felt very strongly that by encouraging compliance with AIDS drug treatments and discouraging skepticism about the causal link between HIV and AIDS she was offering HIV positives their best possible chances for staying alive.  But after more than half a decade of a professional and personal life that revolved around AIDS from the mainstream perspective, Sarah very reluctantly agreed to watch the documentary film, The Other Side of AIDS, and something remarkable happened as a result: she began to question the basis for her staunchly held views, and ultimately the direction and meaning of her life’s work. Listen in as David and Christine speak with Sarah about her journey from certainty into the unknown, an experience she recounts with intelligence, grace and unusual honesty. News items include a Ugandan drug trial testing the idea of “reduced transmission” a proposed HIV prevention drug combo in the UK, and the criminalization of HIV in a growing number of countries.

Impressive episode. This HIV/AIDS thing is so huge and still unexplored, it has tremendous potential. There are so many amazing stories out there waiting to be heard. Here are a few examples which might give ideas for future episodes:

I wish this was more or less a daily podcast, and maybe even a video podcast. Possible?

This was quite outstanding! It reminded me a bit of Rebecca V. Culshaw: http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig7/culshaw1.html

It is a pleasure to listen to people who question the main stream “head” and powerful media.
Today the statement: “such is scientifically proven” means little or nothing to me anymore.
I have learn to think for my self and to take responsibility for my choices. Your podcast is one of the few independent sources of information that remains uncorrupted by the arrogance of those who claim they know all the answers. It gets harder and harder today to find good and valuable social discussions. You are really doing a great job!

    WOW! Thank you Sarah.
I could SO relate to your experience.
I’ve also shed many a tear & even, often times, chosen to become a hermit … cutting myself off from physical contact with most & especially those whom I’ve experienced verbal confrontations with – those who themselves are the BIGGEST ‘denialists’, simply because, through their sheer arrogance & false sense of importance, refuse to perform ANY research of their own, choosing instead to go with whatever the MS media feeds them, yet feeling perfectly justified & entitled to lash out & make fun of those who have done their homework, & do know better.
You’re ALL very special & truly gifted souls, & I thank God that each of you has managed to source your life’s purpose & mission.
    THANK YOU!

This comment is about an episode that I saw tonight. The mother supposedly died from AIDS and they wanted to test the son, who initially refused. And of course, the writers had him being HIV+ too. First, this would not be uncommon as HIV, a harmless retrovirus, can only be transmitted from the mother to the child and not by sex. Secondly, because the kid had HIV does not prove that this is the cause of AIDS.

I would recommend that the producers take some real live dissidents or AIDS Rethinkers stories and make some episodes. There are many of us out here who do not fit the bill for what we have all been lead to believe is the truth. For over three years, I have had low CD4’s and a very high viral load, yet I am not sick and dying.

The facts of the matter is this, HIV has not been isolated, HIV is not sexually transmitted, and there isn’t any proof that HIV kills CD4 or T-cells. Talk to many us, we know the truth!
