In this episode, David and Elizabeth speak with singer/songwriter Gos Blank about his struggle with immune deficiency since birth, and perhaps even before birth. It didn’t take long for Gos to reject his HIV diagnosis, due to the number of inconsistencies in his story. He has concluded that his health problems started with his mother’s drug treatment while pregnant with him. He then cites a number of lifestyle factors, including drug use, poor living conditions and a mold allergy (mold is a rampant problem in Houston, particularly in low-cost housing), all of which can affect the outcome of a typical HIV test.
In this interview, Gos shares his original song, “Amok,” which he recorded with his Rock Band, Nero’s Opening Act. The song is a tribute to the late Christine Maggiore, one of the founders of this podcast, and who is greatly missed. Click on the song title to purchase it for as little as $1. All proceeds from sales of the song will go to OMSJ and Rethinking AIDS.
